Natural Solid Deodorant
Natural deodorant, maybe this is something you already know and use, maybe you haven’t heard of it before or maybe this is you doing some research? Whatever it may be, here are some reasons why you should switch to a natural deodorant!
Aluminum
Antiperspirant deodorants usually have a number of ingredients in them, such as aluminum, which in fact inhibits your body from sweating by clogging the sweat glands and resulting in trapping the toxins into the body. This has the potential to develop into cell mutation over time and has been linked to being a cause of cancer. Natural deodorants do not contain aluminum for that reason and instead have a lot of natural ingredients that are actually good for the skin and allows your skin to breath without clogging the pores and sweat glands.
Parabens
Parabens is another ingredient regularly found in antiperspirants, used as a preservative it is actually used in a lot of other skincare products, makeup and even food. Parabens are also known to cause an imbalance in the body due to the fact it can act very much like estrogen and so disrupt the hormones in the body, which is known to be linked with the development breast cancer due to the fact that most often it occurs in the upper outer quadrant, the area where you apply deodorant. Natural deodorants do not have parabens in them and so switching over will help a great deal if anything mentioned has caused you some concern.
Fragrance
Having a deodorant with a lovely fragrance is something no doubt everyone wants. However, a lot of the time the word fragrance is used very loosely with some products and in actual in fact means a number of other ingredients that are packed with toxins and chemicals that cause irritation and harmful for the skin, especially for sensitive underarm skin. Choosing a fragrance free antiperspirant may be something you consider, yet unfortunately does not mean those chemicals previously mentioned won’t still be lurking inside the product. The scent or fragrance you find in a natural deodorant will be occurring from the botanical and other natural ingredients in the product.
Sensitivity
Underarms go through a lot daily, washed and scrubbed and sometimes shaved, then are in constant contact with fabrics that rub and irritate. There is no wonder your armpits can become very sensitive and sometimes even have painful rash. To then apply an antiperspirant will cause further irritation and flare up redness and sensitivity due to the number of chemicals and fragrance in the product. With a natural deodorant containing a number of natural ingredients, essential oils and other skin soothing products will result in your underarms being treated and not inflicted with more unwanted reactions!
Painful bumps
Considering the sensitivity the underarms can experience it isn’t a surprise to hear that bumps and textured skin can also be the results of using antiperspirant. Seeing as antiperspirants basically block the pores and sweat glands from producing sweat this results in a build up of bacteria and product resulting in bumps and sometimes even blemishes in the armpits. These can cause trouble for shaving also as the skin’s surface is uneven and so shaving rash is a higher possibility. Allowing the skin to breath and not clog pores and sweat glands will mean the skin’s texture is not uneven with painful bumps and blemishes, this will mean your armpits will actually look a lot more attractive too!
Benefits
Natural deodorant is a great product to use as it benefits the skin the more you use it. With the glands and pores able to work properly and producing sweat you will find that you will be able to go a day without even needing to wear deodorant! You will also notice that with your underarm skin looking feeling smoother, your shave will be closer to the skin and will last longer too.
Detox
It may seem a tad odd to say how switching to a natural deodorant will enable you to have a complete detox for your underarms. But it does make a lot of sense and will be a huge benefit for the overall look and health of your underarms. When changing from an antiperspirant to a natural deodorant it is best to have a couple days of detox. This will allow all the toxins and chemicals that have been trapped in your underarms by the antiperspirant to escape fully from the body. It may be a little worrying to detox, and if you are worried about body odour, you can use coconut oil and essential oils, such as lavender, to help disguise any smell without causing any more problems. After a couple of days you can give your new natural deodorant a go, you will love it!
